Newent is an up-and-coming hub in the world of new technology; its school is one of a select number of Cyber School Hubs in the UK.
The town is also roughly equidistant between Government Communications Headquarters (GCHQ) in Cheltenham and brand new specialist centre for high technology education, SGS Berkeley Green UTC near Gloucester.
